cloudy full moon hunting
Hey all,
I know we have all read and heard on various coyote hunting DVDs that hunting during the full moon is tough and I generally agree with this.
What I am wondering is what have any of you noticed about daytime calling success when the full moon is obscured by cloud cover? Do you think they are still running hard at night like a normal full moon or because they cant see it do the coyotes behave like its any other non-full-moon night? Do they "feel" the full moon?
Ideas....input?
Just moon for thought.

Re: cloudy full moon hunting
I asked about this a few months ago. Just like everything else that has to do with a coyote, there are no rock hard answers. Since I inquired about it in the summer I've paid alot more attention to it. It seems like when there is a good cloud cover and a full moon its business as usual, with no cloud cover I think that its twice as important to locate. Ive called them in but its usually not until after lunch and it happens fast. That makes me think that they aren't coming from a long ways away. My area isn't the most coyote filled environment but if your in there kitchen there going to come see whats doin know matter what the moon is doing. And the best way to get in the kitchen is to find there house.

just got off stand tonight...dec 12 2008...i called in at least 9 different coyotes from 9 different directions but they all hung up out of sight (about 300 yards out) full moon, cloudy, they all just came in to that distance and stopped and howled and barked for about 5 minutes and left...i was wearing great camo, calling great and virtually no movement...any thoughts ???

Re: cloudy full moon hunting
I have been using the distress a lot this year. 99% of the time. But I can't help it when a coyote barks back at me, I give it right back to him with some barks and challenge howls. I had one 2 weekends ago just pissed at me. He never did come out but it was the loudest and closest I have been to an angry coyote. He must of been within 100 yards.
