howled in a fox

Yesturday on sat 1/29 i was out hunting and spotted 2 coyotes out mouseing in a flat so i thought i could put the sneak on them. There was an abandoned farmstead with in a half mile of where they were hanging out. So i struck out cross country got to the farm stead and started sneakin up the tree row. About half way up the tree row i heard something i hadnt hear in a long time at first i wasnt sure what it was but then it dawned on me it was a fox barking. So i went to the other side of the tree row to see if i could get a look at him and there he was trottin out across the field stopping to take a look back at me several times. Ok i saw a fox cool now im gonna kill a coyote. i got to the end of the tree row to where i figured i could see those 2 coyotes and there they were. I got settled in and blew a very soft distress and they about freaked out and headed the other direction so i figured i would try to give em a few howls bang the one stoped immedately and sat down man i hate when they do that but at least it was still in the same county and i knew i had a chance if i played the right song. so on and of i would howl and then i had her howling. then i gave a few short soft whimpers and some more howls. Then out of the corner of my eye hard to my right about 20 yds was that big old fox just trottn along he got to about 10yds and i gave him a little growl and he took off like a lightning bolt headin right for the other coyote that was lying down out in the pasture. When he got down wind of that coyote he really flipped out looked like he was running around in a mine field. After that the coyote seemed a little more interested and started my way she got to 394yrds and that was it she layed down and wuoldnt come any closer so i dialed her in and waited for her to stand up and give me a broadside shot when she did she got a 52gr pill pumped through her chest. I just dont know what the fox was thinkn if he heard me blow that distress and shut his brain off when i sharted howln or what either way it was pretty cool that is only the third fox i have seen this year and didnt have the heart to shoot him.

Pretty cool stuff. Don't think I coulda passed on the fox at 10 yards though. Nice shootin on the coyote.
