Re: 22-6mm
I really like mine i'm shooting 69 grain sierra matchkings, 4831powder and the bullet is traveling at 3434fps. I have a 1/10twist but have heard good things about the 1/9 also.

Re: 22-6mm
My longtime hunting buddy had one and loved it.It was NOT fur friendly though but he,like me,wanted em dead, not pretty. You can load for fur friendliness but he didn't.
He screwed his up the first time trying to convert to a removable mag/clip system. After straightening that out he locked and bulged it trying to get about a 1000 fps more than P Ghost.(he won't admit it but he was jealous of my 220 improved at the time
)When it ran,it ran very well.Very accurate.
Don't know his load and will be in Canada awhile now so won't be able to get it for you.

If you're a top dog forum member there's a pic of Coyotehunters fur friendly 22-6 about 25 pics into this thread of pics.Reminds me of my 220 Imp and my buddies 22-6.

Yeah kind of a nasty hole.
I was kinda wanting to shoot the 52 grain berger. I'm still doing research but all info is good. I do put up my fur so I don't want anything to vicious on fur.

Dusty,
Note that a 22-6mm will not add much (or any) value to the performance of a 52 grain in 22-6 vs. a 22-250. The extra powder capacity of the larger 6mm case can't be utilized until you get into heavier bullets like what Prairie Ghost is shooting.
Compare a 69 grain bullet in .243 to a 69 grain bullet in .22. When pushed at the same muzzle velocity the more aerodynamic .22 is ballistically superior. The longer, thinner.22 cal will project flatter and faster than any stubbier .243 bullet of the same weight.

Re: 22-6mm
If you put up your own fur i would HIGHLY recommend something different. I had my 22-6 built for control use only it is not fur friendly AT ALL.

Re: 22-6mm
I have a few friends that use a 22-243, 22-6mm and a few other variations. Most of the guys are correct that any of them canbe hard on the hide but at the same time if you look around and find out what bullets everyone is useing most are on the heavey side. The heavey 22 cal bullet does have a better B.C. than a 6mm but you still have the same problem as the 243.. Too much bullet!!
If i was going to build a rifle to shoot one of the mentioned wildcats i would go with a 52 gr. H.P. for choice of bullet and push it at or around 4000-4100 fps..

Re: 22-6mm
I have shot mine for 10 years and on my second barrel. went to a 1:9 twist this time in a Hart barrel. I shoot the 69 gr. BTHP Sierra and use R-22, get a consistant 3500 FPS out of it. I have loaded up with 50 GR. powder at 834 ft. above sea level and was getting 3836 fps, ended up with over 2500 rounds through that first barrel 1:10 twist shooting 68 gr hornady BTHP bullets. Very accurate, can shoot as hard as anything out there. I would get one built, stay away from the light bullets, maybe load it up with H1000, keep it around 3350 fps and you will have a accurate, reliable, long range gun.

Re: 22-6mm
Well I started the ball rolling yesterday. When I'm done I'll have a 22-6mm Ackley. I'm still thinking on the trigger. Tell me what you guys think of this for a set up: Remmington 700 action, Krieger Barrel 1in9 twist, Hogue stock, and Nikon scope. Once again everyones input would be greatly appreciated. I really want this gun for hunts and doing a little summer denning work with my dogs. I have a 22-250 that I can fur hunt with.

Re: 22-6mm
I would diffently get a BDC for the scope. You could see about a 40X trigger for that remington action.

Re: 22-6mm
I am going to check on that 40x. I should have thought of that before. I am also thinking about building it on a CZ action and the single set trigger. I know Prarie Ghost shoots a CZ waht do you and everyone else think? My 22-250 is aCZ and Ilove that trigger.

Re: 22-6mm
My 204 is a CZ but my 22-6 is a winchester model 70 action that used to be a 22-250
