Thats amazing how you can hide like that!! I dont know how everyone else feels but i feel that when a coyote is coming in he/she expects to see some type of movement. I feel that is why sometimes fellow coyotehunters can't stop them when they are coming in. Sometimes the slightest movement will trigger a reassurance to them and they come harder. The problem with motions decoys is that most of them are moving constantly. To me thats not natural. I have seen rabbits squeal and there doing the flips jumping around and the next rabbit you see lays there flat and crys like a baby.

Here is a pic take in early November with the ghillie top under my gun. That is with no vegetation tied in. That's the color of the suit only. I was playing a tune on the Wiley One. The first coyote was take at 10yds and the second stopped and sat down at 200, good night.

So is a ghillie worth the effort of making and wearing, I'll say so, some won't. Just a matter of opinion. I will say that making them is a lot cheaper than buying a commercial brand, and they look better because you can duplicate the colors in your area, not that you can't retie on a commercial suit.

Neat pics Xdeano.I use one occasionally but not too often anymore.Mostly cause of the 'cons'you listed but also cause I feel its unnecessary most of the time in the places I hunt.It sure as heck doesn't hurt though!
Last year I used it in deer season with great success,laying in bare pasture on a fence line that,from glassing,I knew bucks were traveling.Worked! Many came by in spitting distance including a pretty nice one. I'd post a pic but my computer skills prohibit it.
This isn't to say most of those deer wouldn't have gotten real close anyway if I didn't move but,without it many would have eventually spooked I suspect even without getting my scent.
I see a few pics now and then of 'snow'ghillies but can't see doing that at all.Has to be a mess in snow-not to mention cold.Whites are enough.

Good stuff dean looks like you made a good one. I have thought about one for years but never thought the few more coyotes you killed because of it was worth all the work and hassle that comes with them. Although some of the expierences being that concealed would be neat none the less.

My guess would be at the base of the three with four trunks on the first pic i don't know about the second.

The snow ghillies that you're talking about look cool, but the cons would be a bit more. I would think that when you sit down in the snow the snow would melt and get stuck in the strands, when you get up the snow/water will come with and as you walk back to the truck, your ass turns into an icicle. I'd been thinking about it pretty hard for the last 4 or 5 years or so about making one anyhow just to give it a test. If it doesn't work what am I out, 30 bucks.

I saw a photo of one in the predator xtreme mag last issue or the one before it. They do look nice in theory though. I'll let you know how they work when I give it a try. but for now i'll stick to my over whites.

You would be pretty surprised at what you can do with a ghillie on. I've crawled over hills to get closer shots, which isn't to big of a deal when in rougher country but when you live where it's flat and the hills are more like sheets of paper, crawling that extra distance can help.
