CW if you would have had something of more substance included in the story of the kill it may not have been such a sore spot for others. Some history of some type of livestock loss or something, but you have to expect to get zeroed in on posting a wet bitch in a hero pic. Some very valid points were made in the replies. It goes with the post. Killing vs. hunting are being questioned. The days of saying and showing what you want to whoever you want are getting less and less.

I am not ashamed of being a trapper and have no intentions of hiding my photo's because some goof does not approve. I do have my own views and try to keep them close to my vest when it comes to ways of hunting animals. I have found that over the years to many hunters spend to much time and energy trying to scold other sportman about how they hunt. For example: go to any whitetail web site and listen to the arguments on baiting. This type of in fighting only limits what our children and grandchildren will being doing in the field. Killing a wet female that is not causing any problems just means less coyotes to put on the stretcher in the fall. I have no warm and fuzzing emotions about the pups and how they may or may not survive. I just think about the missed oppurtunities in october. That being said I have no vested interest in someone elses coyote. I really do not care when you shot a coyote just as long as it was done according to the local laws. Oh, and by the way, there will be another coyote to take her place in no time at all. I assure you, you will see no long term impact on your local population.

Well said coyotehunter! I shot a nursing female last spring and located the den! Unable to get the pups out I was curious as to what happened to them so I went back a week later and there was indeed another female in the den not only taking care of the orfans but her own as well. That general area was also very prductive this past winter :D

Do what you think you gotta do, i don't care..
On the other hand i only shoot them when the fur is prime, or when tagging along with a ADC trapper...

Thank you all for your over whelming support. I do have one question however .The taxidermist said she had six pups ,do I add seven or just one to my total ,guess I could put an asterisk by her number.

If you can't kick it, you can't count it. 8) Pup counts are of interest to ranchers but I do not personally count them in my year end total for coyotes taken on the ground.

I believe that whether it's a 15 lb jake or 22 lb tom, forkhorn buck or 150" 5 year old buck, wet female or a old male everytime you pull the trigger or release the string it's a trophy. As long as all laws are followed that's what hunting is about!!!!!

Thanks again I will certainly be more discreet when posting picture's, it has been a lot of fun going back and forth with those guys from Arizona and New Mexico. I think the one guy from N.M. must live and hunt close to that area 51 that is famous for U.F.O.s Roswell New Mexico.Flew my airplane back from California in the early 90.s past through the area.It has some unusual history. When he isn't hunting he could be looking for them.
