Do you carry binoculars?

Post by wolfpup30 »

I was wondering how many of you carry binoculars into your stands? I never have because I figure the added movement of scanning all the time is not good. I do however scan the horizon through my rifle scope before I get up and leave. Any thoughts?

I would be like a fish out of water without them. Never leave home without them. It gives you a pretty good advantage.

i'd feel lost without them. get a slide and flex harness and you wont even know you are carrying bino's :)

wolfpup30, I start glassing right away before even getting to my calling setup. That kinda dictates what your next move will be. There might be a coyote real close and all you have to do is lip-squeak to get him or them in. Get yourself a bino harness and you won't regret it. I'm sure you have had coyotes bust out as you are walking to your calling spot. This will cut down on that happening if you get used to glassing the area.

Another added benefit to carrying binos is that when you glass ahead of time like jerry mentioned, you can then see things that look out of the ordinary later in the stand and are usually a coyote :D I scan quite often to try and pick out that coyote that is only sticking his head over the hill at a distance. Get use to carrying them and after a little while you will feel naked without them!!

I think you'll be surprized how many more coyotes you'll see using binos, and if its moving or close enough to see with your young pup eyes no need for binos but if you see nothing you have nothing to lose by glassing once a while, just move slow

I hunt the early Morning Hunt, Call and use a small 12X 25 binoculars ( just so I can scan the feilds with some brush around when Calling ), it is a good tool, to me, My eyes an't as good as they once was.

Personally I don't carry binos. I haven't seen many coyotes this year, only about half a dozen myself. Partially because of school and a full time job. MAYBE because of lack of binos. I don't wear mine because I've got the straps to hold them to my chest, but then my calls hit against them when I walk. Also I feel that they may reflect some sunlight and glare that may spook some yotes off. If you ask me, a person might as well wear sunglasses into a stand. I'm still learning about all this too. Does any of what I'm saying here sound logical?

I use them also. They come in handy when you got a coyote a couple 100 yds. out or farther and peaking over a ridge.. As for the hands calls banging on them i keep my calls under my jacket when walking or in seperate pockets on the front of my jacket...

Tuck your calls inbetween the binos and your chest and they wont bang around. That is if you have a bino flex system. As long as your not looking into the suns direction, the coyotes shouldn't see any bright reflections off of your binos.
