Later late in the evening, I decided to hike out to other shooting tower on a food plot about a 20 minute walk out on the farm. I get to the tower and carefully and quietly cut back the blackberry bushes from the step ladder. Just as I go to open the door an HUGE Red Tail Hawk flies out of the the tower window port.
I open up the door and there are 5 eggs the hawk was sitting on and a PILE of barfed up mouse furs and bones so I just left the shooting tower alone. I don't want to disturb her nest so I will just leave that shooting tower alone for now. No signs of coyotes but I brought back a VERY nice selection of ticks and chiggers.
Note to self............mow a trail to the shooting towers.
Guess I will try one of the other places.
I got to try out my Johnny Stewart Predator 2 electronic call. I did call in one of my daughter's dogs Buddy and scared the crap out of him when he walked up on me and did not see me until he was right on top of me.
I guess that is a good sign that it works but it does NOT have the remote range of 50 yards they advertise. It is more like 20 to 30 tops. Good call otherwise.
Hiking with an 18 lb. rifle and my bag of stuff which is maybe 15 lbs. was some good and MUCH needed exercise though.
