A little action finally
I was out calling to the coyotes in my home area yesterday and still trying to figure out what it takes to get them up. I had a late start and got going around noon and covered alot of ground and made 8 stands till 5:30 and on the way home i thought i will hit one last spot and see if anything happens. My last stand was in a area i called a coyote into last spring and took pic's of it with the camera. I had made 5 stands or so in this area all winter and never had anything respond. Will i went back into my same spot that gave me a good veiw of the area and the wind was a slight breeze and blowing in the right direction..I decided on this stand i was going to skip the prey distress sounds and go straight to coyote vocals.. I was on stand for 15-20 minutes and still nothing so i decided to try something different and see what happens, still nothing so i went to one of the sounds i used on the other coyote last spring. SHA-ZAM there it was comeing out of a grove of ceder trees about 400 yds out and comeing hard just like out west.. I kept a eye on the coyote and got my CAM turned on and focused so i was ready for the coyote when it came in.. The coyote hung up on a hill top about 200 yards out so i gave him another taste of the WT and got it going again at a run heading straight for me.. As you will see in the Vidio i had the scope on the coyote most of the time, I was ready!!! The coyote ran into a low spot and disappeared for a second and then popped out in plain view and the gun goes off.. I saw i hit the coyote to far forward and caught the shoulder so i gave it a follow up shot to put it down for keeps.. I only had a factory 17 Cal. set up for my CAM and i was useing some 25 gr. bullets in it and they did'nt work as well as i was told from another source, i will get a load worked up for it useing the 30 Golds.. I vidio runs a little slow on my computar but hopefully it works out good on youre's.. Enjoy.. Tim.

Why does everyone ask that particular question.. LOLMale or Female?
On the other sites i did'nt say but i think i'm safe to say here. It was a female and she had 6 in the oven.
The pups where 3 1/2" long so they may have to cook for another 15 days or so..

I was only asking due the response to that sound. Good job it saves a lot of work to catch with the suitcase instead of looking for a hole.

LOL. It was one of those sounds a female usualy comes to but not 100% sure thats why she came in since i used half dozen different sounds, it couldbe anyone of them that triggered her to come in.. Still trying to pin point what they like and don't like but i'm getting it narrowed down to just a few...
I normaly don't hunt at home this late but i have a few areas i set aside for just calling and i don't think i'll hurt the population much by shooting a few..

Your safe here Tim!!!
Nice work, Looks like they may be alittle behind on dropping pups or is that about average? I thought April 12Th was the average drop day.

If you guys remember Steve Allens presentation at the Classic the average birthday on the coyotes that he studied in ND was april 15th however i have taken females recently that wouldn't have been until probably the first week in may so there is quite a bit of varience.
