I heard on the news a couple of days ago, that a coyote attacked a small child in California. They had a short clip of the coyote on the news, and it was a female with a couple of pups. They are still looking for the coyote. I attached an article from MSNBC.

I wonder if this was territorial behavior, due to the female coyote having pups? Could of the coyote mistaken the small child as her own pup? They said the coyote picked the child up from the rear and was trying to carry it away.

wonder if the coyotes in areas like that are used to grab and run? wonder what the child had for lunch maybe smelled like leftovers if coyotes are garbage can raiders maybe she was used to all those type smells, glad the childs ok and I know a couple wildlife agents in wyoming who could put the hurt on coyotes in that area

After reading the article and the report i would have to agree with jamie. If the coyote came out with a limp what better easier target then a little kid.

Thats not the first attack from a coyote in that area. It almost seems territorial. I think in the news report, that was third attack in 5 years or something close to that. There is also a fear of the high population of mt. lions in that area. The local authority is going to have to step in and take some kind of action

Maybe they can smear some deer/calf/baby scent or other attractant on those HSUS people,arm em with a leash and some love beads and let them round up the lions.Somebodys got to do it and Coyotehunter and Prairie Ghost seem pretty busy.

A growing problem in that area but remember coyotes only eat rabbits and mice or the sick and weak
