How many of you out there have nv scopes? I've talked to some dealers and they say they're the way to go. A guy could spend hours on the internet searching and reading. I'd rather hear from actual hunters who have used/use them for the actual feedback. I understand the generation clarity, but for the $ are they worth it? What brands, prices, anything on this will be helpful. [/list]

sorry i dont know anything about night vision scopes I just dont see the need for one myself so i can't give any advice

just get a higher quality scope that takes alot of light in and hunt during a full moon! If you hunt at night without a full moon how are you going to see any coyotes with the naked eye, you will have to look through your scope the whole time

I think Praire Ghost has used them.

We have some googles and a scope the scope is fouth generation and is unreal. Shooting Jack rabbits at 230yds with no moon and no snow on the ground. I didn't take care of he buying of it so i will have to take a look at it tomorrow i know it came from Cabelas.

If you are just a hobby hunter i can't see spending the money they are still very expensive

The brand on the scope is Aries and i've been very impressed just playing around with it but it ran about $5,000

Well I got to look through that thing the other night while taking a break from prepping some new traps. All I have to say is coyotes look out. WOW. Tried the goggles and the scope. The goggles were pretty good but that scope is right out of a James Bond movie. Very cool.

ATN Aries are decent but are pretty cheap compared to the BE Meyers. I've personally owned a ATN Aries in gen 3 and it was pretty decent, but I did a comparison with works Meyers, and I ended up selling mine. It was like looking through a tasco scope and someone lets you look through a Schmidt & Bender. After that I started looking for new scopes and found several that were gen 4 and 5, so i called BE Meyers and asked them if the make a gen 4 or 5 scopes and they laughed at me. the guy says that "no company is currently making a gen 4 or 5 nv, because they are the top of the line and they would know about it". "If they are saying that their gen 4 or 5 they are just blowing air up your skirt". anything to sell another buck.

Meyers has a huge DOD contract.

I will have to look at that dean like i said i didn't take care of the purchase but i know we were told it was a generation four. None the less it is pretty impressive what a guy can do with them.

I havent heard of a 4 gen out to the public yet .....but could be wrong.

I have used them...the civilian and military models through my job.

They are a specific (tool) scope for a spacific task. I would'nt use one for all my hunting.

I have also used a 50mm objective on a standard scope, that worked real well.

I go bare back now no NV..

give me a full moon with some fresh snow (the only good thing about snow) and my 50mm leuoplod scope. Thats the only night vision equipment I can handle!

Be sure to check your Game Laws. Can't use them in Oregon on any Wildlife.
