I called my first coyote in using a diaphragm call on the Goose River bottoms. I haven't used it since. Why???? I have no clue why. They aren't real loud but are nice because you can do it without moving your hands (less motion) and obstructing your view. I might have to give it a shot this year and give the open reeds a break once in a while.

I personally can not use diaphram calls, it just doesn't sound good when I use one. I will stick with my traditional mouth calls

I use diaphram calls when i turkey hunt and i have no problem making the sounds i want when i want but when i try the howling diaphrams they just sound like crap to me. Maybe i can try making some other critter sounds but for me the howling jsut doesn't sound right. So i prefer to stick with the open reed calls.

I was doing pup whines on the diaphragm when I called that coyote in. Pretty easy to do on them.

the puppie wines are pretty easy to do but they don't sound smooth to me. Whenever i have heard a member of the dog family wine it is usually high pitched loud and sudden. I guess what i am trying to say is that i personally sound better with the hand calls.

I hear what you are saying. That particular coyote didn't seem to care much though.
