We,son and grandson were trying to get set up and saw this coyote sitting along a corn row. Made several attempts to call rabbit distress and lip squeaks no interest.Put the stalk on him.Weather was OK. Temps about 20 wind light and variable sky overcast snow flurries. First shot sitting with sticks was low? Now he is moving but not running just a slow trot.Second shot was behind him, the best I could tell at the time . Grandson has the eyes of an eagle and whispers grandpa low and behind him. My son with the binos is tracking him. So I rack an other in tube. The third shot was still behind him.I am trying to adjust but the coyote is moving away as I rack in an other one.The fourth shot was 397yds.I held what I thought was 20" above and about one coyote length in front of him and took the shot.It was by far a lucky shot.We went back the next day to confirm the distance . We went to an other spot and called in two. They came charging in to the call. I was using the Fox-Pro coyote group howl. I wanted my son or Grandson to get a shot but they were set up looking into the wind.Once they saw the call and no coyotes they didn't stay long.Took a shot and missed at less than 200yds.
