Where to Start?

I have been calling coyotes for 3 years now and have yet to have one show up. What am I doing wrong? What do you look for when picking a spot to start calling and what should I start with as far as calling? Desperate in Dakota!

Tell us how you hunt from start to finish. Then we might be able to pick out what you are doing wrong. You might be doing everything right but just not on location or sign.

No kidding!! Thats more than I got and then some....

My dads buddy is in the same boat, hes been out 45 - 50 stands in the last two months and nothing??? I gave him some spots that always produce a coyote or two if done right, and nothing.. He said that a few times after he starts calling they will howl at him....... Every time that has happened to me its been a coyote you bump on the way in, or blow out of the stand. And after they are in safety they let me know to go kick rocks

Got to be in the set up, and stand location. Let us know in detail like Lyonch said and then maybe its right there in front of you........

Definately could be set up and location.... something like parking your pickup in sight of an approaching coyote can blow it every time. Dido to the post saying explain how you are hunting and maybe we can pick it apart and help you out.

Without being there with him, nobody here can give him any detailed advice other than remember the basics. Are you on location? is there coyotes in the area? Have you done any scouting? The list is endless! More details would help. If you are getting fustrated, its only going to get worse, and you might even give up the sport, thats were the patience comes in. Have you done any research? movies, books, tag along with other hunters, pick their brains?

Good point.... If a guy only made three or four stands a year, that aint nothing to be frustrated with

If your making twenty or thirty stands a year and still havn't seen anything, time to switch sports... Try trap shooting, they come out almost everytime you "call" :)

....or try duck hunting. I kill between 100 and 150 of those little bastards every fall so it can't be that hard  . As for coyotes, I'm kind of in the same boat. Haven't seen one of those in the last 20-30 stands :? .
