Tim, I am no ADC man but I can tell you it probably is better in Spring time, but I use mine year around. Of course you will scare a lot of coyote off, but I don't care. Every once in awhile you will get an adult pr who want to play. For an ADC man , that is not a good percentage as they want to kill everyone. What I do know is that early in the Fall they will decoy . When a yoy does come in and see the dog , sometimes he will stick around and watch the dog long enough for a shot. I take mine all year around. Just last week, I got one using the dog . He gave me an opportunity for a shot . My dog never even saw the thing which is unusual. I made a 220yd. shot. The coyote was focused on the dog . You can get away with a little movement using the dog also as the coyote or coyotes are zeroed in on dog. You stated in one post on here , decoy dogs are mainly for ADC people which is probably true, but I got one , so I might as well put him to use. I won't get another one though. It takes a lot of time in field as they will tell you and I simply am not out there like they are. The more coyotes they are on, the better they get. My dog has gotten lazy because I just haven't been in the field enough. Another thing when hunting in the Summer it is terribley hot and hard on the dogs. You have to carry lots of water and quit hunting early. I have had some good days in the middle of Winter using dog and most of the time it is prs. or more. If you ever decide to get one , which I recommend not doing, be prepared to spend a lot of time and dry runs. Then you are not quarinteed a good working dog. I'm sure Randy or Jamie, or Brad can give you somemore advice.

I use mine all year as well. But if i know i have young ones running around, i'll leave the dog in the truck. But it is a lot of work, and it cost some money, dog food and vet bills aren't cheap, luckily my wife works at a Vet so i get everything at cost.
But if you want a dog, get a dog, but don't expect it to be the cure for killing every coyote in the country. It isn't. It helps during the spring and summer, for picking up the adults, but remember the pups will run. Another pro would being able to track.

dogs are a lot of work to have around. You have to constantly have them on coyotes to keep them focused. I use mine year round for work but only in the spring and summer on stand. they are great for cripples, M44's, trapping (set locations, recovery with animals on drags) but fall and summer they never come on stand with me. Fall and winter I can kill more coyotes without the dogs than with the dogs. I leave them at the truck.
