Well a couple weeks ago after my first solo foursome, I took a spill down a cutbank. Now I cant group anything worth a shit :( Shot all weekend just to determine that I need a new scope....

Anybody have a used scope that they might want to sell???

Looking for something with 4.5-14 or 6-18 or in that range..... The damn thing is going to get painted so apperence is not that big of a deal. As long as it holds true. Talk about frustration this weekend, I wanted to go hunting but no sense in that.

You know what I think there might be something there, I pulled everything apart this morning. And at lunch now, I to put the bases back on, (to put a scope on from a buddie) and the front scope base screw bottoms out before its tight.
I bought the gun put together so I never went through it, but I got over 1800 rounds through it, and now after a little bumb this shows up??????

Headed to the range after this to see :?

you can't use the same bases on a different scope unless it has the exact same tube size as the original. If you go with a used scope, you might have to get some different bases. I hope it is a simple fix for you. If it keeps confusing you and nothing seems to fix the issue, i would start over from scratch with a new scope and bases. Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

Opti

What action make?

What base make?

Are you aware that most bases require two different screw lengths? If unknown, very common not to notice and thread the longer screw in the short, and visa versa.

Its a rem 700, and i'm aware of the different screw length. In fact I tried the longer one in a different hole, and my action would not close, so I'm sure I got the right screws in the right holes

And I know all about tube diameters, they are all the same tube sizes. I talked to a gun smith and I sounds like time for a new barrell :|

So I'm getting a Douglas Barrell, in .22-250 Ackley Improved 1-8 twist, not sure how long I want to go yet though. Thinking shorter so its not so damn long to carry in the field????

If one of the screws bottoms out just take a grinder and shorten it. Not to hard to do.. If that don't work then i have some screws that will work..

I put the screw to the profile sander, and shortened it up so its tight. I took everthing else apart and went through again. Went to the range a shot again with the same result :? At least I got good info for my gun smith :) And so we send the gun off in the next day or two to get new barrell....
And then the fun starts again. New load development, fireforming brass and all the fun stuff :) At least it's not in the middle of season
Oh well, I guess I can ask my wife to use her .243  She got it dialed i with 65 gr. V-MAX and touching same hole @ 100 yards :) Well time to go ask permission to use her gun :)

did you check your recoil lug?? I have had this loosen from a spill and everything will be off as well. back off the trigger guard screw tighten the recoil with some loc tite on the threads then snug up the trigger guard screw. Just a thought.

Check everything twice and shoot it over again, but nothing. Sent it off last week to the gunsmith, and he said just a first look its been shot a ton....... So we should see a new .22-250 Ackley Improved soon. Hopefully shortly after deer season I'll be up and running with that one :) Until then the wifes .243 is right on. Then again, the last three coyotes I have shot have been under 41 yards 8) The 870 is working good!

I don't know how calling is for most of you guys after deer season, but it seems as though they seem to be a bit more wiley than in October :(

Last year it was good right afer deer hunting for me. Late december seemed to get a dry spot, but then later in the year we had real good success...? This year I have really done alot of locating and scouting good land, that seems to hold a good amount of coyotes, so I'm hopeing for the best.....
