Even a blind man

Thought you all might enjoy this pic. It is off a rockpile where i had just shot a coyote that had come in. As you can see, even a blind man could have followed this blood trail. Took out the bottom of the chest and we had a major leaker. Was up dam near to ND helping out the new guy up there on a sheep kill Sat. Took one east of the sheep and one west, tough, lots off tall CRP and row crops to deal with, only little open areas that will only work with only certain winds. Took the dog and after hearing before light what we had for coyotes we used him and he was worth his weight in gold, not sure we could have got them without him. Tough call this time of year.

Thats why I have come to the conclusion, that coyotes are pound for pound one of the toughest animals!!

They never cease to amaze me. I have seen coyotes survive longer with a bullet hole in them then most animals would last with a scrape from a barbwire fence.

Exactly! That is why I use 6mm, .257 A.I., and .25-06 for coyotes. I also use bullets that are designed for deer hunting because the SX or Blitz King bullets blow foot ball size holes in a coyote when using these bigger caliber rifles.

All good calibers Rich i shoot a 22-6MM and have shot a lot with the 204 and 22-250 a bad placed shot is a bad placed shot. The caliber just decideds what kind of blood trail you will have.

I haven't had that kind of luck myself. I had too many runners when using a .22-.250. The .25-06 was my first custom built rifle, and I used it for several years with good results. Sure I have had a couple or three runners, but it is pretty rare.
