Going down antelope hunting in two weeks, and will have a few days to hunt coyotes. Anybody hunt this area and is there anything I should know???

The area gets hit fairly hard. There is quite a few callers in the area and they have a decent size contest in Baker in that part of the country. I believe Slim Pederson is still doing the control work over there and he is a good hand.

Not worth my time?

As I'm posting this, I'm thinking coyote hunting is never a waist of time I think we will be closer to Alzada then anywhere. Heck, can't beat a poor day of calling

Still worth your time there is a new batch of dummies born every year. I would stay away from sheep and locate your coyotes before just blind calling

I don't think slim has been there for years. I believe he is down in Alabama or something. Everything looks good over there. yep find them first.

Considering My limited time that we are down there. And the fact that I got 5 other antelope hunters with me, logistics of going out and locating might be tough. Besides the fact that my locating skills suck Not all that up to snuff on locating Most of my calling is blind calling or spot and call. Still trying to figure out all this locating stuff Any suggetions, I would be greatfull

I could be wrong but i believe Slim is there for the spring and summer and in Georgia for the fall and winter fur trapping and giving instruction.

well that might be true...........locating...........you can do that by tracks and scat while you are chasing those antelope around.

Funny you should mention tracks Last weekend we all did our waterfowl opener as always I shot my ducks early and end up walking around a couple of lakes ( to scare ducks for my dad and nephew) and really started paying attention to all the track in the mud around the waters edge. I noticed that there were a lot of tracks in these areas and have never really called this area, but I will now

One thing I thought was weird, I came to a fence that was at the upper end of the arm of this slough, and the tracks were heavy up until the fence, but nothing past that fence for the next 400-500 yards past that fence no tracks at all As soon as I came back around to the other side of the slough, and crossed that fence the tracks were heavy again, so I walked up the fence line a way and they were using that fence line heavy, but would not cross the fence (standard three strand barb wire) I have heard of natrual boundrys??? ( or is that a bad phrase to??) But they just dont want to cross that fence
I guess I dont care if they cross that fence or not, as long as they come when I call Maybe they are like the little kid that say he's are going to run away from home but can't cross the road by his self, so just walks around the block for the next four hours If that is the case, hell I just sit in the middle and shoot em as round the block

I would have to see it. Something sounds goofy there?? There isn't hardly a boundry in nature that they pay that close attention to the boundary line????

Maybe the guy on the other side of the fence has a WT A-Bomb or Foxpro Super Steroid.

Tim; I don't have any pics, but i'm sure they were coyote tracks. I mean they where not that big, way tp small to be a dog (normal hunting dog )
And bigger than a fox. I'm no tracker by any means, but I think I know what coyote tracks look like
