Pup, your getting a lot of good advice, remember and think that there may always be a coyote looking at you on stand and the way to a stand. The binos confirm it one way or the other. You were right on worrying about the extra movement, I have taken numerous people out who use binos way way to much and we have had spooked or have had hung up coyotes because of it. If you maintain the mindset that a coyote could be watching you and move accordingly this risk will be minimal.

I lay prone a lot and it is not very comfortable to use them a lot. If something looks new or unusual during a stand I may glass it, at the end of the stand i may glass before leaving. I also use my rifle scope to check out things.

Binos can also have you focused on things much further away and you in tunnel vision while a coyote approaches undetected. They have there place if used to their advantage and not over used.

To take it to an extreme level on a more paranormal or anal level the lenses do reflect sunlight and you can get the flash off the lenses, a south wind or the east before a cold front will have you hunting looking directly into the more southern in the sky sun. Not as likely with the common north wind which will usually keep the sun more on your back thru out the day.

You'll have less movement using binos to scan the ridgelines than you would your rifle. I never leave without them.

I just use my rangefinder as "binos". One less thing to carry into the field, and im laying prone 99% of the time, which isnt conducive to using binoculars on a neck strap.

Ive even stopped carrying binoculars while bowhunting instead just using the rangefinder.

I usually scan the landscape with the rifle upon setting up, than with the rangefinder periodically during the set.

I always have them hunted for years without them and can credit a lot of coyotes to them (hung up way out there) by spotting them and changing the game plan accordingly. Not a must but will help in a lot of cases
