after talking with a rancher, he gave me some ideas as ton where he thought there would be coyotes. one place was right behind his house. so i go in in the morning right at first light and wait for it to get light enough to shoot. i was about 5/8 mile from his house. at the 8 minute mark, i hear a low rumble and here comes Gary on his 6 wheeler

he gets to about 80 yards and starts scanning.

i satnd up and wave to him. he comes over and say;s "dave, is that yiou" dah??????? he was out in his garden picking carrots when he heard me howl. did'nt think nothing of it till he hears the squallering. he thought a coyote had a deer down and came to chase it off

he appoligised a bunch of time but i just laughed and said, "thats funny as hell Gary, i ai'nt never called in a rancher before"

i asked him if he really heard the howl and distress from that far away and he said it was so loud, he thought it was coming from his back yard

Kinda funny , I have had the same thing happen to me . I had two coyotes coming in and the rancher showed up. You can't really say too much to them , after all it is their property.

Take him with you next time!lol I did that once, I positioned the rancher just out of sight of me, in case it came in that direction. When I finished the stand I walked over to him to tell him time to go, he was laying on the ground. Scared the bleep out of me!! I was afraid to wake him, I thought maybe he keeled over!! I wouldn't want to be the one to find him dead! What a relief to see him sit up when I called his name!!
