i was a post holer till 2 years ago... 
 can't imagin how many more fox and coyotes i would have if i woulda got snowshoes 20 years ago.. :

  I am betting a few more then that Bucs lol.  I am a firm believer in snowshoes now after this last year.  You can cover a lot more ground in deep snow with less effort then you can with out them.

That is a simple fact that no one can argue with 
  
  Its amazing how strange it felt walking into the first few stands of the year with out snow shoes on, thinking hell at this pase a guy could walk all day

Yep!!! What Chris and Levi said.  I like those years that when January comes and I am out around Dickinson, that you can still walk across a pretty much green pasture and any snow is piled up and hard as ice on the fencelines.  It does make picking a camo pattern tough and the coyotes are not as easy to pick off with binos but I'll take it over snow any day.

I have been looking for a fairly inexpensive pair of aluminum snow shoes... and found this web. page

ducksmuggler, before you get them, you may wanna check out the army surpass ones that fleetfarm sells. i think Lyonch and Levi have them. those aluminum ones with the vinyl decking are really loud. just going by experience

Bucks the army surplus one are the cheapest at sportsman's guide.
I do have 2 pairs of wood shoes, a pair of ojibwas in11x54 and a pair of hurons in 14x54, just looking for something smaller in size/ and lighter

Well I went out with and made a quick set tonight and got a 0. But the guy I was hunting with had then aluminum/plastic shoes, 
AND MAN you guys aren't kidding they are noise.. I could hear him over my own noise, of walking without shoes.

The magnesium mil surp ones are probably the best bang for the buck at $40 or so. Pretty tough too.
I do like my wood bearpaws, especially getting back in the brush to check snares, but there is some maintenance needed to keep em tip top.
